Samsung Exhibit II 4G on T-Mobile brings another 4G superstar to the line-up

Reuters recently released smartphone sales info worldwide for the July through September 2011 period, and Samsung has to be happy with the numbers. Samsung shipped 28 million smartphones last quarter, good for almost a fourth of the global smartphone marketplace. Their strategy of constantly releasing new handsets seems to be paying off for them, and along those lines, their most recent release is the Samsung Exhibit II 4G. The budget priced Android handset is available exclusively on the T-Mobile 4G wireless broadband network for a retail price of $99 with a two-year activation. T-Mobile customers can buy the Samsung Exhibit II 4G for as little as $99 for their newest 4G release. Launching on October 27 with Google’s Android version 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, the Samsung Exhibit II 4G Android handset arrives in familiar smartphone form. The candy bar, or slab form factor, with rectangular shape, rounded corners and black finish is employed. The handset measures 4.54 x 2.35 x 0.45 inches (115 x 60 x 11 mm) and weighs 4.10 oz (116 g), average in size and just below the 4G smartphone average in weight. Samsung built a 3.7 inch capacitive TFT touch screen with 480 x 800 pixel resolution and multitouch gesture support, and enclosed a light sensor for maximum visual perception in any setting, and a proximity sensor for auto shut off. The battery on board is a 1500 mAh model which offers 5.50 hours consecutive talk time on a single battery charge and 15 1/2 days standby. The processor on board is a single core 1.0 GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 chip, and Samsung has included 512 MB of RAM memory and 4 GB of onboard storage. That storage can be increased to 32 GB via the on board microSD slot. The camera duo on the Exhibit II is comprised of a rear facing 3.0 megapixel camcorder with LED flash, face detection, digital zoom and autofocus features, and a front facing 0.3 megapixel VGA quality chat cam and video call camera. On the multimedia side, a YouTube video player is on board, and an extra video player supports all major file formats, and the audio player filters by album, play list or artist, and features background playback and album art cover.
